Call for Applications: Tanzanian Postgraduate AMR Genomics and Plate-Sweep Metagenomics Initiative.

Continuing MSc and PhD students in Tanzania are invited to apply for a collaborative capacity-building initiative in AMR genomics, priority Enterobacterales, plate-sweep metagenomics, bioinformatics and scientific writing. Applications close on 20 August 2026.

AfroBiomics is pleased to share an external postgraduate research and capacity-building opportunity for continuing MSc and PhD students across Tanzania.

The Tanzanian Postgraduate AMR Genomics and Plate-Sweep Metagenomics Capacity-Building Initiative is organised by the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences, in collaboration with Professor Lesley Hoyles of Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom.

Led by Dr Reuben S. Maghembe, the initiative will select one or two postgraduate researchers for mentorship and collaborative training in antimicrobial-resistance genomics, priority Enterobacterales, plate-sweep metagenomics, bioinformatics and scientific data analysis.
